Since joining forces in 2006 Dominique and Liam have developed their business and have quickly grown into one of the best known and trusted photography businesses in the UK.
The brother and sister team provide a relaxed yet professional manner attracting clients from all over the country and abroad, keen to experience York Place Studios unique and refreshing style. York Place Studios is based in the coastal town of Scarborough in North Yorkshire and is a bright, modern studio that is fitted out with high quality equipment and facilities that give it a unique contemporary look. The company is a well-respected and long established business in the heart of Scarborough, operating since 1973 in the area of photography. This studio embraces the production of quality design across the market spectrum with the main business specialising in a whole range of photographic and creative design services. This studio produces cutting edge, creative advertising and public relations photography whether it has products or people in the studio or out on location. The creative talent both behind the camera and in post-production allows the creation of the best images and design work for clients.

Dominique is highly skilled at creating vibrant, spontaneous images that capture the personality and individual characteristics behind her subjects. Her warm personality and passion for her work ensure that you will feel relaxed and comfortable, and at York Place Studios we believe that this is an essential factor in allowing us to capture not just a static image on a page, but an insight into the real you. Dominique works closely with every customer from meeting you at the door when you first arrive through to working with you to select and perfect your final images. She loves to meet and get to know new people and whatever the project, every image is created for your unique style and personality. Photography is never just a job to Dominique; it’s her hobby and her passion.
Liam Shaw - Creative Director/Owner
Upper Second Class Honours Degree (B.A. Hons) in Interactive Multimedia.
Liam has vast experience in creating commercial design and photography for all types of media. He has worked in various creative services including Photography, Website Design, Graphic Design, Art Direction and Illustration. He has an innovative and individual approach to all aspects of design and photography, creating all the wedding albums and portrait books, giving them a stylish and graphical edge.
Technically exacting and graphically driven, Liam’s approach to photographing a wedding is to be unobtrusive. He believes a wedding should be photographed quietly, sympathetically and without dictating what happens in front of him to achieve a truthful reflection of the day.
He looks to compliment Dominique’s work by only using the natural light available on the day and concentrating on the smaller, spontaneous details that make up the wedding.
