Bolton Abbey Wedding | Skipton

Bolton Abbey is such a fabulous venue for a wedding ceremony; it is majestic, grand and there are so many interesting places to take photographs. We had visited the venue a week earlier with our fantastic couple for their engagement shoot (where we had pranced around in fields, eaten ice creams and been for a walk right across the surrounding area) and had purposely left out a few choice areas as we wanted to surprise them for the wedding with a few golden nuggets! We arrived at the Devonshire Arms to greet our bride and her troop of excited bridesmaids where a flurry of activity was taking place as they all had their hair and make up attended to. Gillene and Nick are both opera singers so it was a delight to see the little props that were lying around to make the day extra special for them – my favourite was a novelty clapperboard which her maid of honour had brought over from America and throughout the day used it to send little messages to the elated couple. The wedding ceremony in Bolton Abbey was so wonderful but I think my favourite part was the faces of the newlyweds as they emerged from Bolton Abbey: joy simply does not do it justice, they were absolutely ecstatic!

My second favourite part of the wedding was the dancing. The first dance and the guests were absolutely brilliant and our clever couple had arranged that each table at dinner were given a song that they must all come to the dance floor as a group to dance! It was absolutely hilarious seeing a group of people diving on the dance floor to dance to “Is this the Way to Amarillo” in (almost) perfect harmony!

Thanks so much Gillene and Nick for choosing us to be part of your amazing day, it was literally like gaining two friends after the fun and madness we experienced and we can’t wait to come and see you both perform in one of your operas!
