LOOKING FORWARD AND LOOKING BACK, EXPLORING LIGHT AND SHADOW AT GOLDSBOROUGH HALL
Summer of 2019 seems like a bit of a dream now, the idea of shooting weddings every weekend a bit of a distant memory but one we cannot wait to turn back into reality. We didn’t need Covid19 to come along to know how passionate we are about our “job”, we love taking wedding pictures so much and it has been so difficult not shooting for most of the year.
Considering all this though we have actually been so fortunate to have had a strangely busy few months, preparing presentations for various Online Webinar events and even shooting a few micro weddings (a format that has actually strangely suited our photography and that have been a joy to shoot!) Just last week we were thrilled to present a talk at the first-ever NineDots Virtual Gathering on a topic that is paramount to our photographic style “Photographing Nothing.” We were overwhelmed by the incredible 3.9k views that our talk received over the course of the event and the incredible and quite humbling feedback and messages from photographers all over the world – thanks to all those who watched the talk and reached out afterwards, we’re so pleased that it seemed to connect with so many.
Aside from talks, we have been using this unexpected mostly free time from weddings to really hone our photography and experiment with new ways to see so that we can improve ourselves as photographers. We will be taking what we have learnt into our season next year and absolutely cannot wait to get started. But whilst looking forward it is also important to look back, back to last year, to the summer, and to Maruzzella & Ben’s gorgeous and very sunny wedding at Yorkshire’s Goldsborough Hall. This was a wedding filled with all the ideal photographic tropes; individual stories, complex compositions, comedic and heartfelt moments and a sometimes unusual element for our UK weddings (it is England after all!): bold, warm light and shadows that we were able to play and experiment with.
We have included just a few of our favourite photos from this jam-packed wedding, we hope you enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed capturing the day.
Let’s hope that we can all get back to photographing this wonderful aspect of society in all of its full wedding day glory very soon.
