York Place Studios are official ambassadors to the amazing print company Digitalab whose stunning prints and beautiful albums we believe are the finest in the world and can be proudly seen on display in our Scarborough studio. Digitalab are our go-to suppliers for all of our client’s printing needs and we’re incredibly proud to have been asked to be their first official brand ambassadors, now joined on that list by some of the top names in the photographic industry.

York Place Studios’ unique street / documentary style has drawn the attention and admiration of fellow photographers across the globe, leading to Dominique and Liam being asked to speak at numerous international photography events around the world. Recent talks include keynote speeches at Documentary Wedding Photography conference Keep It Real in Berlin and The Ninedots Gathering in London. Upcoming appearances include the X-Weddings Conference – an event featuring some of the best Fuji shooters in the world and the Residency of the North in association with Digitalab, with more events soon to be announced.

Our 2017 Photography Masterclass was attended by editor-in-chief of the fantastic Cameracraft magazine David Kilpatrick who wrote a fantastic 12-page feature about both the workshop and our wider work and photography. We’re grateful to David and Icon Publications for their extraordinarily kind words and for such a beautifully written piece, you can find more information about the article here.

Our 2017 Street Photography Exhibition in Newcastle entitled “Human Traces – Cuba” showcased some of our favourite images from our photographic expedition to the cities of Havana & Trinidad in the extraordinary Caribbean Island nation of Cuba. Sponsored by Fujifilm and Digitalab there are plans to take the exhibition to London in 2018.

Dominique and Liam have been invited to join the judging panel for numerous photographic competitions and, when not taking part in the judging process, have picked up numerous awards themselves both collectively and as individuals including accolades from Rangefinder, Fearless Photographers, The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP) and The Wedding Industry Awards.

We entered the Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA’s) for four years running between 2014 and 2017 and were delighted to win the Best Wedding Photographer in the North East Region three times (2014, 2016 & 2017) and Highly Commended in 2015. The TWIA’s recognise and reward excellence in the wedding industry, with the judging process placing an emphasis on in-depth reviews from our wedding couples and we are so grateful that they took the time and effort to vote for us.

We won the 2015 International Rangefinder Photography Annual First Place Winner with Liam’ s gorgeous photo “The Snow Bride!” Out of the thousands that entered the competition only twenty-five were chosen for the awards and just seven across all of the categories were awarded First Place! We are proud to announce that Liam was the only First Place Winner in the UK. Being a part of this prestigious award means that along with the honour of being published in the amazing Rangefinder Photography Annual, the work will also be featured in a gallery exhibition at the 2016 WPPI Conference & Expo taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
